There are lots of variables here. How old in your battery? Another area could be your generator is not creating enough voltage to charge the battery during regular operations.

My battery was dead too...we had sub zero temps in Dallas while I was out of town last week and hadn't been started in like 5 days! Quick jump today and I was good. Let's see on try # 2 tomorrow.

I have a OEM Lexus battery in my 2005 with 37k miles. It was replaced in 2010 though, so I'm pretty sure it's just the cold weather.

I'd check your battery date, see if it's OEM or non OEM, and see if it holds the charge.

Autozone does a free battery charging test that many people have used.

You are in Florida so I'm assuming that your situation is NOT cold weather, right?

Let us know what you find out...

No definitely not the cold weather...

I let the car run for a good while to make sure the battery was getting a decent charge, and it was still turning off then starting back up right after, guess it just wasn't charging enough to last overnight... I brought it to advance auto parts, and they did the battery test and it came back no good. So bought the new battery there, paid $170 3yr warranty and 84mos they'll prorate the price or something like that..

The battery that was in there was a replacement from AAA, that has been there since I bought the car two years ago, so it was atleast that old.

Generator / Alternator repairs at a Lexus dealer...between 500 and 750. The alternator assembly is about $350 alone.

my own 2 cents since we're on the topic. When I replaced mine before the winter, I shopped around at Sears, Pep Boys, and Autozone...Autozone had the best cold cranking amps battery (Duralast) out of all three, higher than stock. I start it up about once a week or once every week and a half, and haven't had any problems.

We had a great discussion last year or maybe two years ago about leaving your key in the car versus taking it out when the car is in your garage...and we also discussed locking the car versus keeping it unlocked while it's there too and the impact those decisions have on the charge of the battery.

For the past six years I've owned a SC430 and have always left the key in it in a climate controlled garage, but this latest record breaking cold, coupled with a few extra days that I went in between starts really put a toll on my battery---so I had to jump.

Today Ebony fired right up, but all this battery talk has me thinking I may need to look at some of our battery discussions (can't remember if it was blue or red or yellow optima or duralast that was the best battery), but I have a Lexus brand battery in mine that was replaced in 2009. mmmmmmmmmm?

I am still on the OEM battery and mine is a 2005 PB . I have a motorcycle battery charger on it full time trickle charge. Its a battery tender plus model. The car has 6500 miles on it. I only drive when I can put the top down. So far the battery seems to be fine . I will be interested in this thread I may want to be proactive and change the battery now instead of waiting for a failure . I may be at its end of useful life .

I returned after 3 weeks vacation, turned on, the engine started without any hesitation. I was surprised!
