If you join one of the Supra TT forums, you can post a purchase request for the spare tire and get one really cheap. I got mine that way for less than $50. I then just purchased the spare tire cover kit, sans spare, from Sewell at a muchly reduced price.

I too am getting ready to replace my SC430 run flats on my 2007. Most of the previous discussions about the spare donut appears to be about 17in tires. The tires on my SC430 are 245 40R18. Will the Toyota Supra TT or R8 spare work on my car?

Yes, it will work. All SC430s start out with 18" wheels and usually when someone changes them, they go higher, not lower. Mine are still 18" and I have the Supra TT spare.

Default SC430 Spare

So you are saying that you can use the 17 in Supra spare with the 18 in wheels. In other words run the 17 in spare with the other three 18 in tires until an 18 in replacement is installed?

RSusi, As illogical or counter intuitive as that sounds, using a 17" spare wheel/tire with three 18" wheels/tires, Harold is correct, the actual spare tire size is 145/70-17".

Keep in mind that the spare is only for emergency use and they typically state that you shouldn't expect to be able to drive more than 50 miles with them. Oh and stay under 50 mph.

I just bit the bullet and ordered the entire kit, wheel, tire, parts, carpet and cover from Sewell online. The good news is that they are so close it only costs $8 for ground shipping. I also ordered a set of Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires that will go on this weekend.. <sigh>

Peace of mind and a nice comfortable ride. That's what I'm talkin about.

Picked up an rx8 spare with cover off craigslist for $100. Fits and looks good but man I miss the trunk space. At least now that I have a spare I will never get a flat The big reason I caved in is I know if I ruin a tire, I will have to order a 20". Could lay up my car for a week.

Kaiser, As I may have mentioned previously, I also bit the bullet and picked up an actual brand new SC430 spare with some of the trunk trimmings for $200. I could not agree more that when I put the spare in the trunk, I really miss the trunk space, hence the reason I will not put it in the trunk unless I travel on very long trips, or outside of the 100 mile AAA towing range.

Take a look at the link in my signature line below, there are some photos there. The spare tire sits vertically with about ⅓ showing above the deck line. The tool kit is located horizontally in a recessed tray under the carpet in front of the spare tire.

Never really thought of that, thanks. I guess I could always tow the car home to the spare if I get a flat local. LB has been pretty lucky for me, I have already picked up two nails without going flat. I guess it is worth it for being able to use my trunk again.
