Anyone done this?

I got the interior out no problem and I removed the old belt. I can't figure out how to pull some slack out of the new belt. There is a latch or something that locks up when I pull. I can't even pull any slack out of my old one now that it is removed. Do you have to hold it a certain way to release a gravity latch or something? The instructions say to pull until it catches and then relax it and then pull it out. Both of mine just lock up now. Help!! The car is apart and I am stuck

 

Fixed!!!!

There must be a magnet or something down in the hole that you mount the seat belt because you remove it from the hole and it doesn't work but you put it back where it belongs and it worked just fine.

They don't tell you that in the manual

 

Did you replace the old ones with an OEM belt? I have been thinking about replacing my ecru with something darker.
