Default How to order New Key's???

Hey...

Does anyone know how to get an extra set of keys?

Or even better, without going through Lexus?

I know you can order a new "shell" through Ebay.

But does anyone know how to order a duplicate key - the insides and cut?

Currrently I only have one key.

Thanks in advance.

In for info! Do you have any "Master" Keys - If so it looks like EBAY is the best way to go-

I was so (un)lucky to have purchased a vehicle with only a Valet... Looks as though I need to spend big bucks to have my ecu reflashed in order to get a "Master" key? Hopefully others will chime in soon.

Yeah... this is what sucks.

I lost my valet key (the one that looks like a credit card) - and don't have my spare.

So right now I only have my main key.

Anxiously awaiting peeps to weigh in...

i believe you have to buy a key through lexus. they can cut if from your VIN. but you can order online from sewell lexus, who has lower prices than most dealerships and gives a discount for forum members. after that, there's a procedure for programming the new key. here's a link for that

by the way, if you use the search feature, you'll find answers to most questions pretty easily.

I researched this key issue today - You should be able to purchase a new master key from Ebay and program it yourself - (Lexus will be a bit higher).... Def Search "Key Replacement" if you haven't already- there was a recent post in the SC430 forum from a lady iirc

Ebay is your cheapest route and a very good option provided you buy a key from a good seller. Some sellers will even offer to cut the key according your your VIN number, so you'd have be be comfortable sending that information and proof of ownership if needed to them. The key will then need to be programmed, but there are a lot of online DIY instructions on how to program the Lexus key for the various different models and years.

2nd best options is Sewell Lexus. Since they are a Lexus dealership, they are legit and will provide you with everything you need. Cost will be higher than ebay, but cheaper than your typical local Lexus Dealership.

Another options is to buy a blank uncut unprogramed key off ebay, then take it to a local locksmith that can cut Lexus keys. Many of them can cut and program the Lexus key now days.

Their site has it listed at $135 +$15 to cut it +$10 if you want an OEM case, so $160. Sewell charges $152 after the club lexus discount. It looks like you can get one on ebay for around $70.
