Default 06' SC430, any specific problems?

Hi all,

I am getting very close in starting to shop for a 06' SC430, just want to see if you guys know of any problems that is specific to that model year?

I have been paying attention to this car for quite some time now, there is no problem what so ever that I heard or can think of. One of the only new mechanical component added to the 06' was the 6-speed transmission. Which was introduced on the 04' LS430, that Lexus did had a recall on, and was fixed right away, my 05' LS430 is 100% trouble free.

As far as I know, the design of the 06' SC430 is perfect. Am I right?

Just want to do a last minute survey before I go find and buy one.

This 06' SC430 would complete my dream Lexus line up

Thank you guys.

Having had an '03 and now an '06, I can say the '06 maybe the best year you can get. It has all of the refresh upgrades from previous years and is lacking little from the '08. Probably the sweet spot for used SC 430s as far as price.
Good luck, and if you do get one most of us agree ditching the RF tires is the first thing you should do. Let us know how you make out.

JTMav......thank you for your inputs and advices

The only thing I am curious about is if I should get a 06' or 07', since 06' is the 1st year of all the new refresh upgrades, new tranny......electronics, I am afraid there would be bugs. But I haven't heard anything bad at all. It is afterall the top of the line Lexus, so maybe perfection is achieved

The RF tires don't bother me at all, I came from the world of harsh sports car......EVO/STi/GTR/NSX, the RF harshness is nothing compare to those ridiculous sports car's harsh ride But I still plan on switching to non-RF when the time comes, just because it is cheaper

I have not heard of any specific problems central to the 06. They all have certain quirks, like I just had my windshield replaced, seems like many of us have had this problem. I had this with my '03 as well. These cars are pretty bulletproof, especially compared to the Euro competitors.
YMMV
Good Luck

To me, the major advantage of the 07 is the knee airbag, but Habious pointed out that you lose about 2/3 of the glove box.
