Dennis, If you order parts from MyLexusParts (MyLparts.com), be sure to put in the COUPON CODE CL05 at checkout to get an extra 10% discount (for Club Lexus members)...

I am that guy that likes to keep everything if possible original. It's like when I got my 1990 Ford Bronco II in 2015. I redid the plug wires, rotor, distributor cap, fuel filter, trans filter, shocks everything to do with the brakes and used Motorcraft parts. That's the way it rolled out of the Ford Factory in Louisville, KY in Jan 1990 and so I do my best to keep it that way. I will in all likely hood do the same with the SC. I am not really concerned about paying a little extra for somethings because I look at Money as a Renewable Resource, Provided on a AS Needed Basis BY The LORD and my GOD has really deep pockets.

Dennis,
you must have read the webpage too quickly...they list all models by year and model...take a look again...

Rockauto.com will have the best pricing for the StrongArm struts but they are out of order currently. I need some myself and have requested a notification once they become available.

I will wait on them since it's not a pressing issue for me.

Default Trunk Lift Supports

I whole heartedly agree , you will not notice the performance difference if you buy elsewhere. I bought mine in 2013 from Wisconsin Auto Supply on EBay for about $35 for the pair! They still work fine!

So I was thinking about this yesterday. Has anyone ever thought about adding a automated trunk lifters so the trunk will open automatically or even power assist? I'm sure there are some engineering geniuses here that can make it happen. I've seen a kit for my now sold 2015 Mazda CX5 (as it did not have the auto lift gate). Maybe something similar for the SC430? Any ideas, friends?

It looks like everyone likes the Strong Arm trunk struts the best and I want to order them for my 2006 SC430 as they are weakening. There are many sources and all that I have found say that their Strong Arm struts are for trunks without the spoiler and then there are other brands that are for struts with the spoilers. My 2006 SC430 has the spoiler and I am curious - does the spoiler weigh that much that that it would make a difference?

Has anyone ordered the Strong Arm struts for their SC430s with spoilers that were noted being for non spoiler cars and found that they work okay?

Thanks,

Frank

I know this thread is for the Trunk Struts, I think I will add the Hood Struts to the thread.
my 2002 needed them bad.
i picked up the Strong Arm Brand again...the part number 6232.
it took me about 10min a side. So easy, didn’t bother to snap pics of the work, only pics of the OEM and aftermarket struts.
WoW, what a difference, compared them to my 2007 and I think I will order another set.

a pair of StrongArm 6232 hood struts cost,
Amazon, $40 Lifetime warranty, see vendor sticker in pics, Lift Supports Depot
Rockauto $27 shipped 12 mo warranty.
the OEMs appear to be KYB

Would anyone be interested in an "auto lift, auto open, auto close" type of lifter or added function to our SC430 trunks? If so, please sign up here...

One of them started leaking but they would still hold the hood up.
the new ones are so strong, it felt like one would hold the hood up.

Amazon has them for $10-$30 dollars for the pair. The dealer wanted over $500 to purchase and have them installed. An incredible variance in product price and it is difficult to differentiate the many brands. However quite a few of the less expensive one have some very good reviews. I also wonder why there are so many trying to be sold for models with no spoiler since there are so few in production and I also can't imagine that the weight of the spoiler makes that big a difference. Some have reported they have had no problem using the "no spoiler" version.

Default eBay struts are great!

After realizing my trunk lid was getting heavier and heavier and getting conked on the head with falling, it got my husband a few times, I ordered the struts. Very reasonably priced and I had them in days. Once we had a method of removing the old ones, we were done in about five minutes. Be sure you have a skinny little flathead tool and wear eye protection in case the clip springs off. I held the lid up, he removed the lift at the top first and then the bottom. With a bit a jiggling the lid, he snapped on the bottom first, then the top. Done and wonderful! Top goes up on its own after I do the initial lift, stays up and goes down just fine.

Thanks for for the tips!
