Wheel replacing question
Hey all,
I have had my 2004 SC430 for almost a year now; I love it but I want to replace my dish rims. I am not a very big car person and am not familiar with all the car terminologiy so please help!
I just had a couple of questions when I am researching for new rims:
1) If I wanted to get '19's or 20's, I have to replace the tires AND lower my car right?
2) Is there anything else I need when new wheels are put in?
Thanks a lot everyone

1) Yes, but you don't have to lower by necessity, but many in this forum think it looks better though.
2) If you want to continue to use the Tire Pressure Monitoring System, you should look for rims that can work with the tire pressure sensors, which are attached to the valve stems of the stock wheels. You can install the sensors the same way with some after market wheels, but not others.
There are also some after market wheels with holes pre-drilled on the rims where you can install the sensors. There is also another way, where you can "band" the sensors to the wheels with metal straps, although some don't like doing it this way.
You should read the sticky thread " How to disable tire-pressure monitoring (TPM) system ", where there are some discussions regarding these choices.

1) you don't HAVE to lower the car…. It might look better but you would be just fine with stock suspension.
2) all you would need is;
2) all you would need is;
- Wheels of choice ($$)
- Tires (700-1000)
- Wheel locks/lug nuts (70-100)
- Possibly some hub centric spacers (25)
