Lexus SC 430 MPG: Real World Numbers
#107
I saw 8.3 litre / 100 km (34 US mpg) this morning after resetting it (at gas station) and a 30 km trip averaging about 85 kph.
Then I had to park, and it went up to 8.4. On the way back, I put the top down, and when I got home it become 9.
The computer seems accurate, though. It read 10.1 before the last refill, and I added 32 litres for 319 km. It was on a road trip, though.

Btw, my old, high mileage car with original oxygen sensors got about 10.1 l/100km (23 mpg) measuring from the pump today.

Here are my 2005 SC430 numbers:
2016 Oct, 83°F air, with top up, filled with premium (US octane 93 = EU octane 98), Eighty-something thousand miles:
65 mph cruise flat road, Highway 290, 29.2 MPG, not touching brakes at all.
65 mph cruise hill country, Highway 6, 28.5 MPG, not touching brakes at all but driving in rolling hills (Texas).
city 20.5 mpg average over several years
2008 Dec, 45-50°F air, with top up, filled with premium, Something-Teen thousand miles:
Highway average speed 45 mph gets 32.5 mpg
Highway average speed 55 mph gets 27.5 mpg
Highway average speed 65 mph gets 25.0 mpg
city stop&go average speed 18.3 mph gets 16.5 mpg
Looks like over time gas mileage improved.

Just purchased a Toyota Soarer 2002 and been playing with the car to test out the fuel economy. There are so few Soarer forum on web so I bet Lexus SC is a very close equivalent to the Soarer so.
My traffic condition is very similar to what you and Habious described. Its a 6 miles trip to work and took me 25 mins at best and 40-50 mins at worst to get to work. Traffic is very heavy, a real stop-n-go traffic. But the avg I am getting is 3.8km/L which translates to just 9MPG (US Gallon).
I am still collecting more miles to get the average more precise. Meanwhile posting here just to find out if these cars are real gas guzzler lol.
Looks like it is doing worse then my 2.7-ton LC200 2008 which is about 4.7lm/L same traffic conditions. I am gonna have to be very prepared haha.

I am not a mathematician. On a 700 mile trip : took the pump ticket and wrote mileage : dividing the miles by the gallons: i am somewhat aggressive in my driving; I always give the other driver the road.. = 28 mpg.. 2006 80K miles with all recalls.. and all major maintenance requirements. Live in a small town with few SC430's .. car at 18 yrs looks great inside and out.. in TEXAS you better have a V8 or you ain't TEJAS. Good luck to all and especially our country.. we are within the brink and I sit here..
