I rarely use my Nav. system, but on occasion I do with no issue. However, recently I went to use it & the screen ready "No Disk Detected". I do not have my "manual" as it's been misplaced & I've looked everywhere for it. Could any of you tell me where this navigations system "disk" is located in the car so that I can access it & see what the issue may be & if its just "out of position" or if it needs a "service" repairman. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
My dads RX300 just did this, and it turned out to be a little motor inside that burned out... with some good eyes and a set of small screwdrivers, some patience, and a soldering gun, you can take it apart and replace the motor. Took me about 2 hours total... PM me if you want more details.
Hi, thank you for this pictures, I’m totally a dummy on this.
I just got a 2002 SC430 last week and I get on the nav “not disk detected”, I read through the posts and removed the disk, put it back and then did the battery trick. The nav came with a message of “updating the system” but once that was completed I got the same error of “not disk detected”
You probably have a wrong disk for your DVD. 2002SC came with a Gen 2 DVD player and it will not read a newer disk. You may want to purchase a gen 4 DVD on EBay.

Thank you! It actually has the original disk from 2000. I checked and is that one. I’ll look for that DVD on eBay.

Please don’t waste your time or money unless you just want it to work.
the DVD players are very obsolete compared to modern systems.
just use Waze on your phone...you will be much happier.
`Lexus hasnt done a disk up-date in 4 years and will not do another. So the latest disk is 4 years out of date. I plan on an aftermarket GPS when I get around to it.
Use your phone GPS. Live traffic, re-route and multiple routes. Waze even offers police and red light camera warnings. The NAV is only good for backup cam.
