Question New Experience

On Saturday evening I took my wife out for her birthday for a nice diner. On the way home while driving along with the top down I saw a plastic garbage can lid come out from under the car in front of me. I had cars on both sides of me so there was no place to go. I was doing the posted speed (45) but there was not enough time to come to a stop so I tried to go over the lid in the center. From the vehicle in front of me had the lid still moving like a big hockey puck on the ground towards the right side of the vehicle. I went under the right front tire with a big thump and since I did not see it come out the back of the car I assumed it was shot into the next lane. We continued down the road about 1-2 miles and there was no noise in the car. A small pickup truck came along side and said I should pull over there was something stuck in the front wheel well. We both pulled over at a turn off lane and got out of our cars. I was expecting to see some damage but all I saw was the lid sitting on top of the tire and sticking out the wheel well. The other driver pulled it out and gave it a toss. I thanked him for pointing it out since we herd nothing in the car even with the radio off. The next day there was a lot of plastic dust from the lid contacting the tire but no damage. I can’t believe that thing came around the wheel and wedged itself on top of the tire and was grinding apart with no noise. I also really can’t believe nothing was broken or scratched thank God.

Anyone else have a weird thing like this happen?
