Suspension question.
if that's the clunk sound you talk about, that's the brake pad shifting when cold. i know it's sorta common on the gs

I have the same problem but it happens once. Upon my first act of braking, whether forward or reverse, there is a sound emanating from the suspension. After that, I no longer hear it. The mechanic "could not duplicate" the problem so I hope it isn't too bad. I suppose the brake movement explanation would apply here.
My 2003 I had same noises. Found that there was a TIB on rear bushings and hangers that were replaced.
They also replaced on another TIB motor/engine mounts for "rough idle".
Make sure your dealer checks for all and any TIB's.

but either way, of course they will go bad after a while, these are tear and wear items. the stock shocks? my guess is like 80k miles or so, but it has never happened to me since i have aftermarket
Noo of course not! Your springs and shocks should be fine, the only reason why you would replace your springs is if you want to raise or lower your car or want to have stiffer suspension. The only reason why you would change your shocks if they are blown which I doubt, and you could tell that if your car bottoms out and you hear a big jolt in your car when you go over a bump or you want suspension to be tighter. Most likely they are fine dont change anything.

no the spring rate makes it stiffer, lowering the car with springs makes it handle better since its closer tro the road. Lower center of gravity. I think I should have used different wording in m y previous post. Sorry. The spring rate is how stiff the spring is
in my personal opinion coil overs are pointless to the normal driver. The only reason why you would really need coil overs is if you intend to change the height of your car. The only real reason I could think of to do this is if your car is for show and your at a car show or something, you go to the track alot and need to change the height for different handling option, or you just bored and like to change the height of your car for the hell of it. I have had coil overs for a long time now and can count the number of times I have changed the height of my car in single digits. I would save your money and just figure out what height you would want and buy the apropiate spring you would save a good amount of money.
