Good luck with your new baby Lou.
May I ask you a question? I thought the $140K was the SL65 V12 Twin turbo. The SL 55 is the V8, right? Is it supercharged or normally aspirated? If yours is the V8, how much is the V12? Man, you have a mansion on wheels.
Take care.

hahhaa, the sl65 is bi turbo yes, but it's a lot ore than 140k. probably in the 180k to 200k range i say. the 120k to 140k range will get you the sl55, which is supercharged v8 still very impressive numbers

The price on the SL 65 (base is 182,800). The base on the SL 55 is 124,000 and is a supercharged V8 (not a turbo). With options such as the panoramic roof, distronic, bi-xenon lights, keyless go, ventilated/massage seats and the optional 19" wheels, the window sticker was just a little over $140,000. Mercedes is not bashful about their pricing but for 493 horsepower that is very docile when driven normally it is worth every penny.

That's some serious dough for the 65 AMG; it's in Ferrari Modena territory.

Remember reading that the 55 was the better balanced of the 2 monsters, so you made the right decison. The 65 was supposedly too nose heavy, and without AWD, probably not quicker than yours. I don't particularly like superchargers myself due to their whine, but I suppose MB subdued that non-flattering sound.

And hey, I thought I was the low-mileage champion at 2,300 on my 16-month-old '04.

Have a great weekend everybody.

i have been in e55 before, and actually i think they did a pretty good job in taking away that supercharger/turbo feel. you don't see any whining when it's at high rpm and shiftt. nice stuff

but i agree, big money item

This is the 19" AMG wheels on the SL65. The standard SL55 wheels are 18" & are either 5 spoke or ultra-thin multispoke.

These wheels are the same as the ones I have on my car, except mine are with the siver centers whereas on the 65 they are graphite, a darker grey.
