Default Kbb value collapsing?

If any of you monitor the value of our car using kbb, it has been collapsing. When I look at my car I don’t see it as a 12k car. I guess Im biased and think it’s worth more.

I think one of the reasons is the parts from Lexus/toyota are getting $$$. Parts are drying up, it's a 20-year old + car without a ton of aftermarket or OEM support. Production numbers were pretty low as well so comparisons for sales are hard for the systems to find. I've seen really cheap ones on FB mktplace. I've priced shopped the SC430 against 2012-2016 mercedes SL550's parts and the SC430 OEM parts (bumper, hood, headlights, radiators) are price comparable to a $100,000 Mercedes SL550 V8. Insurance rates are going up for the SC430's as well I've noticed. You have to think too, people actually drive their SC430's, they're all getting miles every year so overall fleet values would go down. It is sad, but I don't own/drive my car because of the value or $$$/mile. I enjoy it for what it is. Also people spend 80,000 on a new Ford F-150 and 1 year later they've lost like 20k on their equity. Loosing 3-4k on my SC430 is crumbs.

What is your MY and mileage if you don't mind me asking?

Value and/or sales prices seem to be all over the place depending on the location. I see deals being had by some new owners and others paying a lot more for similar year/mileage, but in another locale. I'm sure it depends on the maintenance history, interior/exterior condition as well. Another factor can be the time of year the SC is being sold. I would think it should be a lot higher now, anticipating the summer months of driving a vert, than it would be in the late fall/winter timeframe, unless you're in year-round vert weather of course.

Do you know what your insurance company values your SC for? What do you see as the value of your SC as opposed to what KBB is saying?

We need to call our ins co and ask what they value our car as and hopefully, if it's less than we think it is, come to an Agreed Value of our car. I also hope they don't try to charge us more for the Agreed Value.

Ours is a 2004 and even I would NOT pay that -- I'd rather pay that price for a 2009-2010.

We'll see how long it takes to sell...

2003 83,000 miles. Paid about 17,500 about 4 years ago. I put about 5 k in it in over that time. Thats 22,500. Let’s say it’s worth more like 13k. That’s 9500 I lost divided by 4 is 2375 a year to drive that car which I love. Thats 197 a month. Pretty good deal either way. There have definitely been worse “ investments “ in my life
