Parasitic Drain - Common Problems
I am a big fan of AGM batteries BUT my limited understanding of vehicle electrical systems is that due to less internal resistance to charging voltage that an electric system designed for VRLA non AGM batteries is set to charge at 14.25 volts nominally. An AGM system is set at 14.15. As I said my limited understanding is that in long drives an AGM is being overcharged constantly.
would not seem to be most owners use thankfully.

Hmmmm.
I, too, have an AGM batt in my 2009 PB. I knew this could be an issue w/ this car before I bought it (thanks to this forum). I took the gamble.
I use a trickle charger if I it's been 3 or 4 days of not driving. Shut off everything before parking & don't do auto on the headlights.
It was at the mechanic's recently they informed me the batt went dead after a few days & I needed a new one.
Was prorated a refund from Costco as the batt was 11 mos old. Love the car but the drain on the batt is insane. Maybe the mechanic left the door open too long? Who knows.

The lights were in auto, doors unlocked, standard Interstate battery from Costco.
So, knock on wood, I don't see any drain on my system. While parked its not locked so no alarm set and it might go a couple weeks without driving it, but always seems like a full battery when I go to start it. And yes, I leave the lights on auto, for now anyway.
