I am planning n buying a 2002 SC 430 with 70k and driving it 1000 miles home. As far as I can tell all new fluids and car has been garage kept. This has a clean CF and I do not see a TB sticker in the engine bay. There is no Lexus or Toyota Dealership anywhere close. Should I take to the chevy place? Any ideas?

So I kind of just went through this, bought a 2004 with 57k on it, no TB sticker either.. Bought it in Nashville which is about 500 miles from me and it ran fine so we drove it home without incident. But today I took it to the closest Toyota dealer and had the TB & WP service done. I'm thinking you will have to search your gut and make that decision; I'm thinking if it is well taken care of you should be good.... but you never know right?
Not sure if this helps or not.
I don't think anyone is going to tell you not to worry or not to change your belt. No one wants to give bad advice that causes an engine failure. You just have to follow your instincts so that way you can live with your decision however it turns out.
But hey, let us know what you do and how it turns out! You will love this car, at least I do. And the more I drive the more I like it!
And where are you driving it from and to.. if that's not too nosy.

I would not take it to a Chevy dealer.
This is a huge job and they would not have any experience with this engine.
I changed mine and had the Lexus service manuals, took my time and made sure it was done correctly. This was on my 2002, when i purchased a 2007, i let an independent shop do the work. They specialized in Toyota/Lexus with Toyota trained mechanics.

So if you did your own, how difficult was it? I debated getting the shop manual and doing it myself.
And I agree about not taking it to a chevy dealer.
OK thank you all for the advice. I ran the CF and to my relief the TB was done @ 66k! @SGB4570 So I am flying to Tampa and driving it back to Houston, 1,016 miles. The funny thing I have never bought a car in the city I live in.

One of my daughters lives in Houston (the other in Austin) , I'm sure we will be driving our new car to Texas in the not-too-distant future. Usually at least one road trip there every year. We will probably end up there eventually.
We were going to fly to Nashville to pick ours up but ended up renting a car to drive out instead.
Got any pics of your new to be steed?

I have done about 7 TB/WP changes on cars and this one was the most in-depth.
It wasn’t really difficult but there were soooo many things to remove.
When it was time to change the 2007, i started the job three times, but stopped each time due to the time involved.
paid a good Toyota Indy shop to do it with my parts.
