Default jdm power folding mirrors WIP

Ok so after do some searchin and not finding any wiring info on the jdm power folding mirrors i decided to mess around with them and try and figure out how to get them workin. The first major difference seems the be that the connector harness on mirrors are different but same amount of wires 6. The next is that the harness going to the switch module with the left/right selector mirror position, and folding button has 1 extra brown wire.

So so far this is what i have found out from the mirror,

the colors change from the mirror harness to the car harness. Those are the colors coming from the car harness. Now i just gotta figure out the us harness and the control module. But thats it for tonight, any input or ideas would be appreaciated. Thanks

i think the reason why they are wrong is because the master switch is on the right side for japan because thats where the drivers door is, hence the reason why they have different connectors. so did you ask them if it will wire up correctly?

and how come u didnt just go oem?

i should have some pics up tonight, if your talkin bout the tukwila meet, its a little far for me i live in spokane. But i have a usdm 95 sc300 5spd and want the ability to fold my mirrors in with a push of a button, not a feature available for the us. hence using the jdm mirrors. I know its been done before but i havnt been able to find a write up on it, so if anyone has this done they could put in some input. Wink wink

OK so some progress today. Im going to start using pin numbers instead of colors since they keep changing.
There are 9 wires in the us mirror harness. 7 in the jdm one. 3 are used for mirror movement.
Mirror harness
Pin 1 - in/out
Pin 2 - Ground
Pin 3 - up/down
This are the same on both us and jdm mirror harness.
Switches are the same
jdm switch harness has an extra brown wire in Pin 4. This sends a - pulse to the mirror control unit when the fold button is pressed.
Next step is to swap out the us mirror control unit for the jdm one but ive heard it can be a pain to get to. The jdm unit has 11 wires to control the mirrors. The us should have 8 to control the mirrors but havent seen it yet.

you know what the wires are for the fold in and out, cant you use the jdm controller and run new wires for the fold feature?

I remember seeing a vid of it wired to the alarm. The mirrors would swing out when the alarm was disabled and swing in when the alarm was enabled. I believe it was aliga who did this.

that sounds sweet as hell! that would make the wiring so much easier... just use the jdm box for mirror control and wire the fold separately to the alarm...

I'm probably gonna use the extra channels on my alarm to fold/unfold the mirrors.. Haven't decided on that yet. Or just have it open/close when it arms and disarms.

Still havnt gotten to the control box yet, going to this weekend. But if you were going to use an alarm to control the fold in and out, you can just use your stock control box, and use like the window roll up feature of the alarm. Im trying to use the jdm control box but splice into the us wiring, hopefully i wont have to run any extra wires but we will see.

I know this is old, but I'm thinking about purchasing a set, seeing if you ever made any progress with this.
