I just pulled out the old Car and Driver reviewing the SC400 for the first time. They kept going ON and ON about superlatives of the car. The only complaint was cramped space.

The even coined the car "quite possibly the best car in the world"

I forgot how much hoopla the first SC had..and WAY more than the SC430.

You don't hear things like "BEST CAR IN THE WORLD" when it comes to the SC430. But you do w/the SC400.

W/some modern audio/interior upgrades and slap on a supercharger, and this timeless shape is STILL the best in the world!!!

 

The SC400 was named Motor Trends car of the year in 92'.:eek: I totally agree with you and I actually prefer the stylings of SC300/400's way more than the SC430's

The SCx00 was a truly innovative design in it's time. Just compare pictures to other car offerings around 1991-92. Nowadays every car, including the SC430, is just a mutt borrowing design cues left and nright from every successful car before it. Classics only come by once every several years, and I consider the SCx00 one of them. It is an axiom for the automobile culture of the '90s.

 

if someone handed me an sc430 i would take it.. but i agree, the sc 430 is nasty and i dont like it at all... the interior is nice, but it was never voted best car in the world. You know, its things like this that make lexus owners proud!!!!!!!!!!

Automobile magazine coined it as having the best car interior PERIOD!

 

Personally I do not like the styling of the SC430 a bit. I think it is an unsuccessful adaptation of the MB SL and Audi TT. However, the interior of that car is a joy to look at as well as to sit in. Prettier than even the Jaguar. I have not seen a prettier interior this side of a Ferrari 456GT.

 

So there are still people obsessed with supercharging the 1uz? Get with the program; turbo kit coming out for it soon enough.

And just curious, how many of these "God I love my car" threads are we going to have? I think this is the 3rd one Anthracite SC has started lol

 

It's my innate insecurity in my car, being upended by new cars w/better looks, performance, techology, that keeps me posting things to justify the car. =)

No...it's just that I post things that come off the top of my head. Honestly, I dont think it hurts to be happy about our cars. =)

 

I don't mind posts like this at all. I don't mind redundancies either. Some people might not have caught the previous two and just seen this one for the first time. Remember there are also a bunch of SC shoppers that are surfing these forums too.

Oh yeah the SC4 is the greatest car ever made...

i dont mind being a proud owner of an SCx00 as some might say
i love when i see someone pull next to me in the same car i have...
its really cool cause they spent their money well and have a great car
so its two great cars cruising togehter...its a brotherhood kinda thing

 

IT is a brotherhood, and I also enjoying smoking other SC4/3 brothers in my neighborhood. =)

I think though, that I'd just admire, CLINT (SC300TT) and Jeff (SC300turbo) as they blow by me REALLY fast. That's just something you gotta admire. =)
