Hey guys I need a little help, i’m kinda new to the sc game so i’m a little confused. my sc400 seems to get hot fairly quickly, I turn it on for about a minute or two and the radiator and radiator hose get very hot and they get hot quick. On the speedometer it looks normal but it doesn’t seem normal when in the engine bay, also the fan moves somewhat slow so I was just wondering if anyone has a fix or is this normal? also the engine fan fluid has fluid above the hot line should i drain it to the cold line? never had a fan cooled by fluid, if anyone knows a fix let me know! thanks.

 

If you don't have one already get this and see what the actual temperatures are.

As long as the power steering fluid is between the hot and low line you're good. FYI the cooling fan is infinitely variable it runs between very slow and a dull roar depending on engine temperature and if the A/C is on.

 

I’m speaking as sc300 owner…
If temp range on dash normal, then things probably ok. My 1993 SC300 has fan mounted on pulley so it’s always spinning but the rate of spin changes based on engine temp. fans on pulleys spin faster when engine first started and slow down as things warm up. As the fan clutch gets older it becomes “looser”(spins with less resistance) and less effective. At some point they need replacement.

fan just part of coolant system so make sure you got good coolant level in expansion tank, that you’ve got no leaks, that thermostat working, and temps stay in normal range on dash.
