Reggiek - You can ask me questions so long as it's not how you can put 22'z on your ES250 or where to get the best price on some *****hole wheels or anything of that nature. :)

kaotiq 04-01-04 03:18 PM

hey manaray,

I have 20" Iforged rims sitting at home not mounted yet. I noticed that you also have iforged 20"s Did you shave or remove the inner lining of your fenders at all to get the rims to tuck? and what tire sizes did you use?

thanx!!!

:eek1: how'd you pull that off? on a 255/35/18 i was probably 3mm from touching the stock inner fenders with the sidewall of my tires. I have -1 degree camber and I was running a +45 offset. I figured if I got a tire any wider, it would have rubbed for sure.

It's all about offset....what is your exact setup....rim size, width and offset.s all around....plus tire size...

No worries Manaray.... I sold those wheels and picked up a set of 19's. I also had my rear 1/4 panel cut and the front fenders rolled so I should be good to go.

Thanks,
John

That is truly amazing. what offset are you using right now? Do you have any turning problems say if you wanted to pull a U-turn or something of that sort?

asnatlas 04-02-04 06:59 AM

ballpark on fenders ??

MrJohnTan, if you don't mind me asking, what was the ballpark of the work that was done on your fenders ??

Sorry I don't really know much about cars but am considering buying someones rimes. He has Advan Kruezers V 19x8 front with a +37 offset in the front and 19x9 +45 offset in the rears? Front tires are 225/35 and rear tires are 235/35. Is the offset good/right? It will go with Tein Flex's. thanks.

I went shoppin for wheels........ The Jackasses tryin to sell me wheels said NO LIP!!! & MUST BE A FLAT FWD WHEEL!!!!!!! So i was ****ty and showin them pic after pic of sc's with a fat lip wheel & they said "we cant guarentee they'll fit, more than likely theyll stick real far out of the fenders and look like im tryin to sport some hammers! So after countless wheel stores tryin to sell me PRIME 5 STARS & 15" MOTEGE's?? i finally found a set that had a small lip and looked ok. I think ive lost the "performance look" and gained the "Rap Star" look but i think with the VIS kit It'll come back to life... anyone know if i can drop it with these wheels??? there close to rubbin.....

legendary 04-05-04 04:24 AM

to answer your questions

too bad...should have come here first, we would tell you where to go and how to get that lip.

Its never too late though ;)

Depending on your offset and width/diameter you should be able to achieve a decent drop.
You gave us no specs, so dunno how low you can go.

You should check the Tire Rack forum here and see the stickied post at the top, or do a search as this has been discussed many times. I KNOW I have posted this information at least 20 times in the last month or so.

Do an advance search for offset, and legendary as the username

VIS kit? No, with that you're going to get the "I really didn't know what the ***** I was doing" look....:egads: VIS is the piece of ***** body kit. Period.

Ditch the wheels (eBay). Put your stock wheels back on. Never go back to that wheel shop. Come back here with the amount of money you can spend....and in the mean time, do a search and read the thread regarding putting 20's on the SC. There are some issues with it that you might not want to live with.

Don't take it personally but your SC is a eyesore. Horrible wheels and it looks like a 4x4. Help us help you help your SC. :)

you gotta love this guy....straight to the point!;)

SC400_2nV 04-05-04 10:19 PM

Well, I guess everyone has different taste in wheels. I like Chrome... I also think if I could drop it, then this 4x4 would set back at its regular height or possibly lower... im not lookin to run 12's & im not driftin *yet I think its badass seein an sc smokin an SS or a soarer drifting* I just like a clean look and i feel the 20's fill the wheel wells. I like my ride, I asked for help.. not told how i should build my car.

Manaray 04-08-04 11:16 PM

It's not different taste, it's knowing what is good and what isn't. We all know mullets are ugly as ***** but there are clueless people who think it looks good. Don't be the guy with the mullet.

You definitely need to lower the car . Do it right the first time and get coilovers. Trust me. But from the sounds of it, it doesn't sound like you'll be able to lower it much or at all since your wheels are SO wrong (on many levels but most importantly, offset/size wise)

Also, I never said anything about running 12's or drifting (and you can drift on 20's...ask Richie). I had 20's on my SC too which is why I said to look up (SEARCH) 20's and lowering. There are issues with the SC and 20's that you may not want to deal with. In which case, getting 19's with standard size wheels will work fine and it will still fill the wheel gap (if you lower the car). If I had to do it all over again, I would do 19's instead of 20's. Take it from someone who's been there and researched it....

You can like your ride all your want. I'm not telling you how to build your car, I'm giving you pointers and advice.

I don't mean to sound mean (what?) but your car blantantly says "I don't know what I'm doing". It's that simple. Just accept that fact and work to fix it. Everyone has to be a noob sometime. (think about it, if you weren't a noob, you would've had wheels with lips just like you wanted....no?) Don't get defensive about it, just accept it and learn. We're here to help you. Some people like to warm over their views with hugs and kisses, some people just tell it like it is. I'll let you guess which method I use.... ;)

As for chrome, you can like chrome all you want. But have you ever seen a set of brushed wheels? How about high polished? Even if you still pick chrome over all the other finishes out there, you could still pick better wheels. Look at BlueLex's GS and Wei's GS...both have chrome but the wheel design is so clean and classic that it works well....like I said, help us, help you, help your SC...

I think these are about the right size, but I was wondering what size they actually are:p
and one other quick question, as I've found conflicting information. What kind of offset should I be looking at to have a pretty good size lip?

Well if you have some nice looking side skirts and kit to back them up 19s don't look bad at all..... BUT... if you were to put the 19s on a stock SC300/400 it would look like a twinkey on wheels.... Plus it would be WAY too high off the ground! so I say 18s all the way if you are going for more of the stock look and if it is a daily driver.

DJTWIST 04-19-04 01:56 PM

IIdon't know if this last message is pertaining to me, but I'm getting my Espelir springs, side skirts, and 97 rear tails within a week or two. Should make a great deal of difference.:)

From what I've learned, the best offset for an sc is between 38-42.

Ain't gonna work joey. http://toy4two.home.mindspring.com/offset.html use that to calculate your current rims to what you're looking at. And compare and see if it'll fit.

looks good...17s and a body kit = Fashion/Function Police Violation, code 43.17b, penal code 68NIOU1

Minimum is 18 (pushing it) - optimal is 19/20 staggered

18's look a little better, are perfect for daily driving, but are still a little too small. IMO it will only look good if the car is slammed.
Because of the size of the car, I think you are better off with going 19's. You can still daily drive on them, if you are willing to pay the hefty price tag for tires.
If you get a bodykit, you should definately look into getting some 20's

Here's a pic of my car on 18's

Does not apply for NYC. The roads here will have ur 18, 19, 20s, warped and bent within a few hours of putting them on. God Bless Manhattan and there smooth paved streets.

What tyre sizes, did you have to modify the guards at all, and any rubbing?
