Hi I have a 93 sc400 and when you start it up it sounds like a truck mixed with farts as you rev it and it reeks of gas . Anyways it idles fine it's when you put it in drive and give it some gas it will crawl and you can see the rpms jump from 1k to 2k does not sound good when driving duh. I did replace the spark plugs didn't help and the old ones reeked of gas and I have been reading on here that you should test the ignition coils, the map or maf, spark plugs and wires, the distributor cap and rotor, and the ecu have yet to find out what is wrong with it but I did check the coils by unplugging them one by one with the car still running and it just died immediately after unplugging the coil. Did the same thing to the maf no luck I couldn't open my ecu (screw heads were rounded off) I hope it's not that please help don't know what to do next any advice.

 

"...mixed with farts"? Are you talking about "dry popcorn" farts, or "wet bean" farts? Please be more specific...

 

I had the exact symptoms, it was caused by clogged cats.

Also replace both coil packs, cheap maintenance. I had a coil pack that measured properly per factory service manual but was not firing properly.

yeah when I got it had about 2 inches of exhaust off the cat and they were hollowed out and it doesn't have any o2 sensors and it ran fine for a couple of months until the start of this month and all I did was put gas in it because it was relay low
