Default Overheating Issues / 92 SC400

Hello comrades, does the circular component pictured have anything to do with my overheating issues, and if so could anyone explain to me what it’s called and it’s purpose. (Yes I’m a noob XD) just replaced my thermostat as well, engine coolant levels are good, just trying to get my baby moving again.

Thats the heater core, from my understanding that just controls your heater in the cabin. I would suspect air bubbles in your coolant or the coolant temperature sensor may be bad.

thanks for the swift response. So to cure the air bubbles, I would have to bleed the system? And as far as the temp sensor, you have any idea where that’s located? Sorry if that’s a ton of questions, I’m not finding it on the web.

That round thing is a vacuum switching valve which opens the valve to let coolant flow to the heater core. If you have air in your cooling system, you need to burp it. I’m not sure what the best way to do this is on this engine.
