I have an unoriginal throttle body on my SC300 5-speed and I don't know what car it came from but I've had it on for 7 years now. Been going through some other issues and was looking through the manual and I suspect that mine is for an automatic transmission but I'm not sure excatrly what they want you to test in the FSM.
Here it shows
Disconnect the throttle cables - done
Press the dashpot rod with a screwdriver - - all the way in, or out?? If it's IN, does mean all the way back and somehow rig the screwdriver to keep it pushed in while you go to the next step?
c - "check that the dashpot is set" - what does this mean exactly?
Manual: 2600 RPM
Auto 1800 RPM
What exactly is going on with these instructions? Are you supposed to rev the engine up past 3000 then when it falls the screw it supposed to stop the throttle body?
My dashpot is sticky and does not return smoothly - it gets stuck then pops out to the end.
What is VTV? (edit- i guess it stands for vacuum transmission valve - but there's no replaceable parts on the TB so I don't know if this is a misprint or what)
I know we don't NEED these on the car and they are for emissions but if mine came from an automatic, i'd like to have it set correctly to 2600RPM, but I don't know what I'm setting??
I wonder if the SC300 has a different dashpot than the SC400? I posted years ago about the dashpot having no adjustment, being just an overly complicated bump stop. Seeing your picture from the manual indicates there are adjustable versions.
