Default How can the AC evaporator be cleaned in place?

Hello,
Just wondering if anyone has any input on how to effectively clean the under-dash air conditioning evaporator (not the condenser) on a 1999 SC 300 without disassembling the HVAC housing?

When looking into the HVAC ducting with the cabin air filter access door removed and using a flashlight and mirror, the evaporator's finned core looks like it has significant cigarette ash or other contaminants embedded in its air inlet. My car did not have a cabin air filter in it when I purchased it.

Thanks.

You want the Toyota AC refresher kit
Available from any Toyota or Lexus dealership, or you can order it.

Part Number: 00289ACRKT
Supersession(s): 00289-ACRKT; 289ACRKT
  1. Designed to remove objectionable odors from the vehicle’s air conditioning system.
    • Genuine Toyota Power Foam Evaporator Cleaner and Refresher (Step 1).
    • Genuine Toyota Condition Air Automotive Ventilation System Refresher (Step 2).
  2. 2-part kit.
  3. Aerosol deodorizer for air intake vents.
  4. Freshens air conditioning intake and evaporator core.
  5. Expanding foam evaporator core cleaner and refresher.

The previous owner of my IS300 smoked cigars in a tropical climate and no matter what I did, turning on the AC would make the car smell like cigars. The expanding cleaning foam works so well I didn't even need to use the spray deodorizer.

The hose sprays the expanding foam up the evaporator drain tube and it floods the evap core
