Angry Car dies, MAF problem?

So yesterday I started the research on my BFI by taking off the necessary parts, finding the best way to make evrything fit and when I put everything back together exatly how I had found it, I tried to start the car, but as soon as I put it in reverse, the idle died. I had to leave and had my dad check it out, and he said after he let it idle for a while he got it to shift into reverse and stay, so this morning I tried it again and it died in park! Now, I assume that it has to do with the MAF because that was the only component that could have been affected. Oh, and a check engine light came on, and I would go have the codes checked out, but I can't get the car out of the garage. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks.

James,

Make sure the MAF isn't on upside down/backwards. I don't know how it looks on the SC, but on the GS it's very easy to do. Did it on mine and car wouldn't stay started until I figured it out.

when i disconnected my maf i had to remate the plug a few times to get contact.

also, i found a leak in the intake tube that caused irratic idle and hesitation. you may have cracked the tube, take a very good look at it.

I looked at it, and found that the MAF is connected correctly, but where the flexible hose meets up with the intake tube where the MAF is connected, there are two ridges, one on top, one on bottom which are very hard to slip the sleeve over. I'm gonna go work on it and let you know how it turns out. Thanks.
