I might tweak your numbers a bit on the original demographic for these cars. I don't think the "mid-20's" were much of a target for a car that sold for $50-70K, depending on the year. Don't know a whole lot of that age group who would march down to their Lexus dealers to buy something in that range. I find the age group to have originally been mid-30's and up (especially for the SC4 with it's price tag). Hell, my 95 still has the sticker laying around somewhere, and it was the better part of $55K back then, with factory options.
Of course, many younger people have them as used, but I don't think Lexus targeted this group originally at the showroom.

I'm from one of the most vehicle dominated places in the country. Everyone drives Lexus, BMW's, Mercedes and the largest Escalade-type crowd that you would ever see. In Dallas, it's all about what you drive and being seen. I've lived in many of the major cities in this country, and next to L.A., Dallas takes the cake for that. Just the same, I don't see any 25 year-old guys driving SC430's. If they can afford something like that (thanks, Dad!!), they go all the way for SL Mercedes. I certainly remember back to when I was that age (way too long ago, btw), I certainly wasn't spending that kind of $$ on a car.

Every time I look at that chart I'm still surprised to see MB so far down there. Sadly, with all the Ford bashing it's still ranked higher than Mercedes.
