i was racing a civic SI tonight, so as we turned to go up the hill (i was in the outside) i hit the ect. and turned my over drive off cause i heard it helps . . . but as i was going up the hill i felt my car shift into 4th . . . i was just wondering if the comp. will over ride the O/D off and shift the car into 4th if your going to fast. I turned the O/D back on once it got to 4th and slowed down once i hit 90 as i was in a 55. . . . But the good news is i was ahead by 3/4 a car when we both slowed down. I thought those cars were faster than that . . .
In my personal experiences, O/D is most noticeable when you are in the top gear, about 80mph+. With O/D off, it wil be around 4K RPM and it will not upshift untill it rev limits about 125 mph. For me that is the sweet spot for the O/D, then after that just click it off and let drive stretch out to say 149.
