Default Article: Toyota to consolidate electronics operations within Denso

http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/201...ta-denso-deal/

Just bringing this article up because any major shift in parts manufacturing infrastructure within Toyota could possibly have an effect on what's still available for vintage models. I really don't know either way but it seems relevant to post here for that reason as we strive to maintain our SC's and Soarers.

I don't really see this being a bad thing. At least not with our cars. Almost everything electronic in our cars is made by Denso. Even the radiator and AC compressors are Denso.

Seems like a good thing to me. Bad would be breaking away from Denso. If they maintain and strengthen the partnership, Denso maintains their records. Keeping the same supplier should, in theory, make it easier to cross-ref parts they made for the SC with possibly newer versions of those parts with the same specs, since they have the "Part no. xxxxxxxyyy obsoleted, replaced by xxxxxyyxyxy" records. That's how it works for a lot of industrial gear, hopefully for the cars as well!
