Idle/Timing Issues
I have a 93 SC300 2JZGE W58, motor has been rebuilt stock, and it ran fine for like 5,000 miles then it developed a problem with idling, It just drops all rpm and kills over if you let go of the gas pedal in neutral. Hold it there at 1,000 rpm and check timing with TE1-E1 tripped and the timing is at like 35* when it should be a 10*, so I pulled the + battery cable and let it sit over an hour, go back out and hook it all up, (because I literally the day before put the engine in TDC 0* and reinstalled the distributor and made sure the timing at idle was at 10*) so the ECU is clear, and the car starts right up first try, check timing and its dead on 10*, after driving for a little while 20 miles or so, it goes back to like 35* timing at idle. WTF is causing this. Its driving me crazy. Anyone have any ideas?

Edit after thinking about. How long has it been since you changed the distributor cap? Are you using a timing light or one of the TOYOBD1 tools? Ah, nevermind that's not it, the math doesn't work out. I had a V8 one time that jumped spark from one plug terminal to another doing something similar but the timing would be off more than that.
