Well here's my issue. I'm strapped for cash. That is why I (a) can't claim insurance: I switched from full coverage to liability only a long time ago. I was the one who rear-ended so it is essentially "my fault" and no one else's insurance will pay for me. (b) I can't afford to have my insurance rates go up to pay for Xerox's damage, which was light, so I have to pay out of pocket. (c) my initial goal with my current money was to save and get a full PPG 3-stage by August, but now I don't even have money for that, let alone that JIC kit I wanted. It looks like any significant mods on my end will have to wait for next year (if I can find a steady job by then).

meZoom, we weren't really on the highway yet. If this was a highway crash, I would have prefered instantaneous death to facing the aftermath.

TGG, I don't have Supra TT brakes, I was saying things probably would have been different if I did have them. Everyone around me had Supra brakes.

Em, I don't know the exact speed of the crash. I'm guessing 20-30mph?

As far as the bumper conversion, I really don't havea choice. I'll take what I can get. I'm heading out to TAP Recycling today to check up their SCs. If nothing, I met a guy at the Carson Meet with a teal '93 front bumper he agreed to sell me for $50. He also offered to give me his stock hood too. Nice guy, had a 13-sec Bomex'ed SC300 NA-T T03/04 .

Dam rich sorry to hear about that, if it makes you feel better I just got in a minor fender bender as well , right quarter panel is damaged as well as the bumper!! Very lame accident too, I always think of accidents as positives since after the fact it will usually result in better stuff and a leason well learned... I am strapped for cash as well, guess its not a good time for either of us to have gotten in a twist. GL to you. (Most likely no exaust for me now or atleast for a while longer, mufflers just sitting here looking pretty in bedroom)

Our cars suck for collision, hit something small and you have a 1300 dollar bumper to repair or replace. Atleast yours was an accident, mine was in a parking lot where I assumed the lady in front of me moved up, but didn't! 1mph accident, might cost me a few thousand.

So I was shopping around at local auto body shops today they are pretty much set on charging me $4000 for the repair. They want to replace and repaint everything while charging $65-69/hr labor. They also cleverly snuck in two extra hours of shop labor according to the SC shop manual. This is why I never get auto work done in Norcal . Tap Recycling doesn't have any front end parts for the SC at the moment, even though they have like nine SCs, two of which are gold too!

Phoenix, everyone in the convoy was amazed by how much damage the impact created. The IS was almost unscathed.

Howie, that picture brings me pain! It would be a nice picture if not for the eyesore my car presents.

Em, I'll let you know how that goes. I'm leaving for Europe for three weeks on wednesday, so I'm going to have to deal with it all when I come back. And then I only have a week and a half to get my affairs in order before leaving for NY for two more weeks. Aye!....

Painting the car should not cost you more than 250 per panel. Meaning 500 for the hood and bumper. That is of course the inside price given to dealers, etc.

Not for sure but I will be staying in either Newark or Manhattan for two weeks. Wedding and then some personal fun. I'll make sure I give you a ring when I get over there. I'd love to see your cars and console your poor neglected 1UZ . I actually have an idea to replace my busted *** high beams with '99 high beams with the DRLs. They cost the same price anyway...

Yeah I might have to take you up on that offer. I might have to sell the car to pay for this accident. Xerox's parents insist on doing this all through my insurance, which means my insurance will be more than I can afford. Even though I can have this accident settled for about $600 out of my pocket, they want to use the ***-raping bodyshop in Modesto that wants to replace everything, including the tail lights that weren't even damaged. Looks like I chose the wrong family to get tangled with. They are not being very accomodating or understanding at all.
