Anybody know what year model they changed the reservoir from being painted black to the steel finish?? Mine is steel finish now and I want to replace with a black one. I don't want aftermarket like a PHR either.

Thanks,

Shane

92-96 should all have the black reservoir. but they'll become steel finish once the black starts to wear off. 97, I'm not sure about. 98+ are the steel finish for sure.

My 1997 SC300 is the raw finish / steel.

But interestingly enough, my 2003 IS300 is painted black. They must've found a reason to justify painting the reservoirs again sometime after 2001

the earlier reservoirs are galvanized after assembly. The later ones painted.

paint is cheaper.

as an aside I did a light sandblast of my galvanized tank to clean up and sprayed with high quality aluminum paint. looks sharp.
