Buying a 1993 Lexus SC 400
#16
if the seals are older, synthetic oil can cause them to leak because they do not make the seals swell up like conventional oil can. On the 1uz seals are not usually an issue. You could replace them but I'd wait untill you had an actual really good leak. 2jz are a little more problematic with seals but still not too bad, at least non turbo wise. But if you were slapping a turbo on a 2j NA I wouldn't skip out on new seals. SCs are pretty rare here in Ky. I see maybe one for every 100th Camry.

Bought one!
A 1995 sc 400 with 122k miles was posted for sale. I went and looked it this weekend, and bought it! The guy had all reciepts for the maintance done since the lot, everything done by the manual! All gaskets were replaced at 110k miles, and all the fluids were good in the car.
the interior is in perfect condition as well. I believe i got a killer deal on a car in this condition, 3800. Only bad thing about the car is the amp died in the radio, i plan on putting a double decker in it soon! I will post pictures of it soon!
