Default W58 Broken Shift Fork

I posted an update on this in my build thread (https://www.clublexus.com/forums/bui...r-build-7.html) but I am putting it here to see if anyone else has had this issue with the W58. During the last race, we lost 2nd gear, I had a spare W58 so the night between race segments we changed the trans. I finally got around to tearing it down and found the 1st/2nd gear shift fork broken. In my daily driver, I bought it for a song because it also would not go into 2nd gear, and when it happened on the race car it was very similar in how it acted so I am going to assume it has the same problem. Two same broken shift forks in my 2 manual cars, is this a common issue with the W58? Don't tell me I need to go to R154, etc because the race sanctioning body won't allow a swap from anything stock, so I am stuck with the W58. I have it torn down about to replace the fork along with bearings, synros, seals, and the main input shaft because the countershaft drive gear has a lot of wear on it. If common, is there any fix that might prevent this?

You might be able to use the r154 billet shifter forks..Id ask around and see if those will work in the W58

As far as I know the billet R154 shift forks are not compatible with the W58's internals. The physical sizes of the gears are different between the two transmissions. Those billet forks would have a better chance of working in an R150, R151 or R155 than in a W-series.

Aaron at Driftmotion or the folks at Marlin Crawler would be the final authorities to answer this question since they manufacture these parts but I think they will confirm the above.

Factory W58 shift forks from the SC300 or Supra series gearboxes are your options.

Marlin Crawler, Driftmotion, Jack's Transmissions, and SpeedForSale are four outfits I know who will rebuild W58's.
