Default Speedometer gear for w58

So I picked up another w58 recently and it is missing the speedometer sensor and speedometer gear. Found the correct speedometer sensor number and ordered it. Fits fine. However, I ordered the speedometer gear for a manual sc300 and it does not make contact with the speedometer drive gear in the trans (shifter housing is off and I can see it). If I spin the output shaft there is no contact with the plastic speedo gear.
From what I can tell on Toyota part websites, mk4 supras with w58 and sc300s with w58 have different speedo gears. So I must have a w58 from a supra and I should just get a speedo gear for a mk4 supra right?
I know it's a sc or mk4 supra w58 due to steel sandwich plate, extended shifter housing, and correct tail housing.

The gear I ordered for sc is this p/n:
33403-29325
The one for a mk4 w58 supra is this p/n: 33403-39465

toyotapartsdeal.com says that the sc gear has 33 teeth and mk4 gear has 34 teeth.

Here are pics of the trans:

I hope someone can help

I'm stumped on this myself.

The bolt holes on the transmission tail shaft fit the SC/MKIV style OEM rubber mount, correct?

Remember that the SC300 W58's all used VSS sensors set up for 4.083:1 rear axle ratios. MKIV Supra NA W58 5-speeds had two setups: 1993.5-1996 used VSS sensor units set up for 4.272:1 rear axle ratios while 1997 MKIV NA W58's were set up for 4.083:1 rear axle ratios.

If you have the 4.272:1 type VSS sensor shaft gear that may or may not have something to do with this. Not sure.

The sc mount does fit! I ended up getting a mk4 supra speedo gear from my Toyota dealer and it works so I must have a Mk4 supra w58!

That's excellent! You got it solved! And you got the best W58 box you could find!

It makes me wonder if the VSS unit for a 1997 Supra W58 would be the same as the SC version (since the final drive ratios would be the same in both 5-speed cars for that year).

When you have the gearbox installed, remember that the speedometer will be off (the sensor in the transmission will probably be calibrated for a 4.272:1 final drive). Get yourself a Yellr YellowBox V4 to custom correct your speedo accuracy (you can correct over-read and under-read down to tenths of a percent). You can use any GPS based MPH readout as your guide. Yellr also makes an optional plug-and-play harness for the MKIV Supra and SC manual transmission VSS sensor plug.

I did a forum post on this a while back. Page 9 of the thread below. Refer to posts #123, #127 and #128 respectively:
