Speedo needle question
New owner of '92 SC300 and as usual, experiencing dash gauge needle problems. Speedometer is completely black and only sometimes, the temp gauge is dark in the middle of the needle. My question is this: since the tach needle is ok, can it be switched with the speedo needle since I'd rather know my speed more tham rpms. Does anyone know if the needles pull off and could be exchanged. And, what would be the procedure if so. Thanks.
Yeah, but they're not taking orders yet. I've seen references to them for months and still not taking orders??? Plus they're talkin' $500. My question was...can needle from tach be switched to speedo and if so, how is it done?
Well if your good with small electronic parts and have lots of time than you could take it apart and try it out. There are a lot of sensitive parts that can be damaged very easily if your not careful. There was a thread just a little while ago explaining the dash parts and how to take it apart and what needed to be replcaed. The only thing is its not going to be the same parts for everyone. Just be careful when taking apart the cluster. The thread was calling like how many people have dash needles out or something like that. It was pretty recent.
I also suggest you try out a junk yard and see if it still has the dash and try it on your SC. I havent seen many Lexus' let alone SCs in the junk yards around here but you can check them out.
Its just so hard to imagine such a small part can be so costly but its an essential part. I would just recommend a junk yard or if you got the skills and time try switching the tach and speedo needles.
Also if your in FL look out for a summer CL meet in a few months. Check the southeast forum or PM me your email and I can email you when the meet is coming up.
Good luck tho

The search button would have helped.
