Default Factory radio Tape deck inop

Bought one of those cheap cassette to aux things to hold me over till I get a new radio. But when I press tape or cd it does nothing. Could it be because the cd changer is gone? Or is it just trash lol

Yeah it sounds like the tape deck stopped working all together. Shouldn't have anything to do with the changer since hardly anyone's works anyway.

Yes, once you delete any part of the system it wil not play, unless you find a diagram of the audio system and bridge the wires. You can install the cd changer if you have it should be plug and play even if the cd changer doesn't work, but it's hooked up your tape deck will still play through speakers
Otherwise you have to delete the amp and your whole system and start fresh all new (deck, amp, sub and wiring etc)

You can still use the stock amp, but you may lose sub amplification. It's not exactly plug&play, no. The Metra Kit will usually get you installed with the 4 channels, but it'll be real tinny, no bass. There are quite a few threads about replacing the deck and what all is involved.

It does matter what you have now, being Nakamichi or Pioneer (there's basically 2 Pioneer systems, but you had the CD Changer, so you should have the 10", 1 ohm sub.)

I agree, you can still use it with stock amp but quality wouldn't sound that great. I upgraded my radio and installed 2 12" subs and I removed the factory amp all together, it wasn't plug and play I had to rewire the rear speakers, kinda sucked!! it was some work but at the end was well worth it.

My buddy bought a sat/nav at Best buy and they were running a special for $100 flat install. About 8 hours later they called and said it was done but if they knew it was going to be that involved they would never had agreed to the $100 lol.. Sounds like a wiring nightmare.

You are better off running new wires to everything.

That's what I did on my audio upgrade and so glad I did.
