What's the focus height of the stock SC300 projector lens?
It's funny I've never even thought to wonder about that before I did my retrofit.

As of the moment we don't see any demand for it, but we can still do custom stuff on the side no problem.

 

Interesting, so do you just do a clear lens replacement like the STi-R with a spacer to achieve the proper focus length? That's smart, probably a lot smarter than a full retrofit as far as cutting and modification thats involved.

 

Wow the more I look at this the more excited about it I get. I thought I would never have perfect headlights until this popped up. So when you say the film is applied for a permanent solution to the fading and yellow, does the film itself wear down and need replacing? I guess I'm asking what is the expected life of the film in a fairly warmer climate if it were driven daily?

 

There's a lot more to it to be honest. The bulb size and kind or HID kit will also make a difference. The size of the projector lens also makes a difference. The focus height will also make a difference. But overall, our Clear Projector Lens Upgrade with Tuning Service is a more affordable and viable option to get amazing light output.

I would say that a Projector Retrofit service would be for the most OCD or to achieve a show quality light output. And even with a projector retrofit, if you don't have clear projector lens, it still won't put out the optimum lighting capabilities of your projector system. All factory projector lenses have textured surface to diffuse a certain amount of light.

 

The great thing about the film is it has a malleable composition, which means it can take a certain amount of impact from road debris like rocks and such even when driving at freeway speeds. Unlike, the silicone hardcoat they spray on the lenses from the factory that chips off when hit by debris, which ultimately starts the failure of the coating aka the "clear coating" as most people know it for, and weather and contaminants only makes it worse in time until its completely gone. The film itself is guaranteed to last a lifetime and not fail as long as proper maintenance is done to it, which is only waxing it like the rest of the paint once in a while.

 

Hey guys, here's another almost impossible restoration we did. LOL Just wanted to bring to you guys' attention as well, we know some people drive their vehicles daily and choose to just get another set for us to work on. First off, our restoration pricing is slightly matched as to buying another set. Second, we actually do core exchange as well.

Here are some photos of the set of headlights we restored and did a projector lens upgrade on. The set was actually from different years, and some parts didn't match.

Besides the obvious weathered and scratched up surface, heavy condensation have also began to damage the chrome reflectors and have left marks inside the lens.

I'm working on my photography skills with our new DSLR. LOL

 

Wow, those look great! I was worried about my reflectors being too damaged since they have been taken apart and painted "chrome". One headlight is even missing the lower reflector and is left with an open triangle on the base, kind of hard to explain. Is it better to just order a used set and send them in or do you have a lot of parts to replace and repair with? In other words, what would be easier on my wallet and your time, sending in thrashed headlights or just buying a used set and sending them in? Feel free to PM if need be. Thanks

 

Get the best Photography student at the local art school. Pay them some money and learn from them while you get even better pics. They really do get the point of the work across though.The difference is nearly as dramatic as real life!

 

We don't really mind wether customers source the parts or we do. But of course, every part we replace is going to be charged on you as these headlights are getting harder and harder to find, and there's no way to re-chrome the reflectors, since it's not really chroming that they use for it since it's plastic. There are some parts we have in stock and some we don't, but we can always source one out no problem as there's plenty of local pick-your-parts in our area that we have worked with for years.

Actually the photographer who did the photos on our website is also a member here, goes by FlipTrix if I recall his username correctly. And he teaches me how to work it from time to time, or tells me to just search it online when he has no time. LOL But he also own a black SC400 and a black 3 series that's why he knows how to shoot black cars perfectly. Which from my understanding is the hardest out of all.

 

KP - since you are doing custom headlights .. can you guys do something like these one that I am taking out of the supra ?
