back to looking... if I do go with a SC300, what am I missing... I currently drive an Acura RL...
2 cylinders, 40-50 HP and the hassle if the starter should ever go bad. They are really similar. Neither is particularly fast but the V8 feels much more peppy. If you don't plan on turbo eventually, there is not much difference but the V8 will pull harder..

I prefer the 6 for turbo, I prefer the 8 if staying stock. I would buy either (and did).

NO RESERVE! You are looking at another fantastic luxury vehicle THAT WE ARE OFFERING AT NO RESERVE! In 1992 Lexus introduced its first sport coupe, the SC400. It’s sleek design and smooth, powerful performance quickly made it one of the most influential new automobiles in recent memory. With rock solid performance and reliability, these cars seem to keep going no matter what the mileage. With only 49,000 ORIGINAL extremely low miles, this car is barely broken in. The paint on the car is in great condition with no major imperfections. Radio lights up but no sound, All the glass is in good condition . The interior or the car is in great condition with no major wear to be found. Radio powers up but no sound, The Black leather shows no wear and is in great condition. The carpet and headliner are both equally as nice as the seats with no major wear to be found. The wood dash and door look great with no cracking or peeling of the finish. All power functions work with no problems on both seats and windows. Under the hood of the SC400 you will find the 4.0 liter four-cam 32-valve V8 engine with electronic fuel injection. It is tied to an electronically controlled 4-speed automatic transmission that features both normal and power shifting settings as well as an overdrive lockout. This power train combination delivers a smooth and quick 250 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque to its rear wheels and propels the SC down the road with abundant controlled power. This is a four owner car that has spent its entire life in Florida than in Massachusettes before it came finally here to New York in May. It is rare you find one of these vehicles with under 100,000 miles on it and even rarer to find one with only 49,000. For the money, you won’t be able to beat the comfort and power of this car. The VIN number is JT8UZ30C9S0047824. The car is being sold on a clean, Missouri title with current mileage showing 49,202.

Both look really nice to me after a quick glance. The radio should be replaces with a modern unit anyway in my opinion.
Black on Black is rare and beautiful.

I'm going to test drive the black on black right now... I'll give feedback when finished.

Do you think the mileage is to high, over 120K? or keep looking?

I might can buy the one on ebay right out, but there may be alot of bidders too. uggghhhhh.

120K Sc's are young adults with long lives ahead of them. The good thing is, they outlast most motors and trannys AND those parts are really cheap if they ever fail.

You can get great 1UZ or 2JZ for less than $500 all the time.

Don't worry, just have a really good, SC knowledgable mechanic go over it well.

man o man

that SC drives like butter!!!!! It was so smooth, I fell instantly in love.

That particular car did have problems such as a vibration coming from the gas pedal. It was a weird sensation since I never felt that before. The gas was on E so I don't know why it happened. The passenger door lock was having trouble too, couldn't open from outside... scratches and a loud grinding noise coming from the back. I was told it was the antenna going up and down. It was loud and unpleasant.

But the ride, it was nice!!! I'm now going to search harder for something I can buy at a reasonable price.

Disconnect the Antenna power on the driver side in the trunk to verify. If you still hear the noise i'd check brake calipers and differential. Have a mechanic or Lexus go over it thoroughly. Negotiate that price down with this info.

but I think it does have real issues...I googled the vibration from the gas pedal...that is a serious issue.

If the dealership bought down the red SC300 to 10K, I would get it. Its two hours away from me, but I'm going tomorrow to test drive it. Compare the difference in the two.

And I'm convinced ppl place craigslist ads to see if there is a market. Each ad I responded to, no answer!??

I am a female and won't be able to tweak and fix things like you guys...like I said, I know nothing about cars. I just want the car because I liked the looks. Driving it sealed the deal.

Oops! Sorry i assumed you were male. My bad.
I don't know anything about a wobble in the gas pedal but i'll look around.
Could it be a wobble from the front end that you are feeling? maybe a wheel, tire, bearing, suspension part etc?those would vibrate everything. Did you feel it in the wheel? They would increase at higher speeds i'd think.

You seem to be approaching this like someone who KNOWS about cars. You knew enough to come here before buying. Post more info on the red one.

no problem, no need to apologize. I'm doing alot of research because it is an older car. While reading the reviews, someone mentioned this forum and it bought me here.

No, it wasn't shaking, it was a vibration. I thought it was a Lexus feature alerting the driver the gas is low, LOL, Only the gas pedal vibrated, like a foot massage.

Lightbulb Red one is Nice, but it is Pricey

That Red one at Koons is very nice and looks very clean. Basically it is a 15 year old car with two years worth if miles. I am sure in 2003 a Lexus SC300 with 25,600 miles would have sold for way more than $15K, but that seems like a very high price.

In April I did purchase this one owner 1997 Lexus SC300 with 83K miles for $7,200. Before going to look at the car they replaced the brakes and rotors. As part of the deal I had them do a complete timing belt with seals and water pump. These engines do need to have the timing belt serviced at 90K and that can easily cost ~$1,500.

But you are correct, these are great driving and handling cars.

Good Luck with your search.
