Default Rear O2 sensor replacement

My '98 SC3 has a split in the front exhaust pipe, so I have ordered a new part to replace it. Since the rear O2 sensor (Bank 2 Sensor 2) screws into this piece my mechanic wants to replace it at the same time (152k miles).

In researching part numbers and suppliers the rear sensor from Lexus is part no. 8946514220 (OEM is Denso). Cost at Lexus is ~ $162.49. From the Denso website, their direct fit part no. for the downstream rear sensor is 234-4626 which sells for $55.79.

My question is: are these the exact same part, just more expensive if you use the Lexus part number? I can't cross reference the two part numbers so I'm uncertain. Does anyone know for sure?

TIA

I have no knowledge of this specific scenario, however, I have seen a number of cases in which aftermarket parts from an OEM manufacturer are not the same as OEM parts. Unless you can confirm that they are the same part, I would go with the OEM part from the dealer. I am, however, willing to bet that the same O2 sensor is used on some Toyota vehicles; you may find a slightly better price from a Toyota dealer.

Thanks to all who contributed to this thread, particularly PilotSmith. I did the right side front sensor by removing some brackets before I found this thread, suggestions here would have been quicker. I had been looking to remove some of the shield on the left side, but mounting bolts were impossible to get to and I was about to use the pry the shield technique. Very glad that others had done that successfully!
