Default Do we need front bumper support?

I have a 1jz swapped SC300 and previous owner removed the front bumper support when they installed the intercooler I guess it been a couple of years since they did it and when I tried to put an oem one back on the holes they did not lign up. They were abuot 1" to 2"s off. So my question is did the body warp from not having this support or was there just a small accident that nudged the right part of the frame?

heres the part that wont lign up with the frame

Thanks for any insight

All SC models had that front bumper support. The part numbers however, are different for 1992-1994, 1995-1996, and 1997-2000 models.

i would be wise to have it on your car

if you rear end someone... your radiator support is done for.

I'm guessing it had to be some sort of impact as the car was lowered I think it bumped the bottom support and somehow bent the chassis on the R hand side up front, but the sub frame is straight so I'm not gunna worry about it. If I could get it on I def would just for extra protection, I was hoping somebody had had it removed for a couple of years and that way we would know if you really need the chassis support or if it just a bumper support / protector.

edit: Also mines a 95'

you need it, what if you hit something, your engine is toast, that bumper support will help save your engine

That big bar actually IS the bumper. The outer shell that we see is just for cosmetics.

Shape of the nose is about the same on all years, so you may just be able to drill new holes & mount the re-bar you have. I'll find this out soon, as the parts car I got my light support bar & re-bar off of was a 93 & I have a 96 & since they are very hard to find in my area, I'll make them fit with a little yankee ingenuity.

If the part numbers are different, perhaps you have the wrong one... i would research the differences more before going and altering the car for sure... altering the part wouldn't be an issue

It may just be that Toyota moved the bolts around for some reason on the other versions...

Thing is the bumper support I am using is off a 95' and I own a 95' so that wouldn't make sense that they wouldn't line up because they are different. Also not sure if drilling new holes will work but it is an idea, the holes are off by like 1-2 inches.
