So the below are all the recommendation the shop informed me needs to be done, also he informed me that thier is no way the tranny was not built and it is an original tranny. To keep my cost down he will make the car at about 500whp and I need to be careful with the tranny, not to excelarate to hard. (Thier goes $3,000 I paid Tach Motor Works for a complete tranny build plus torque converter)
I just need some advise if the below seems resonable this that need to be do, just want to make sure as this will be my second time paying for the same work being do. Also the Tranny anyone have experience with a stock tranny taking 500whp? at this point no cash to redo the tranny and do not need it to just die on me, advise would be helpful
-AEM 3.5Bar MAP SS Sensor
- AEM separate coolant temp sensor and installation + welded bung
- Cold idle wiring and resistor (didn't need the IACV valve + flange as '99 spec SC300 ECU was possible to change idle targets with resistor)
- Redoing most of the vacuum lines and hoses, heat sleeving, etc..
- Install boost solenoid
- overall clean up of the engine bay
- valve cover gaskets and intake manifold gaskets
- Oil catch can and lines, welded AN bung, EVAP bung, polished/brushed finish
- Synthetic oil change (Amsoil AMO 10w-40)
- Turbo blanket
- AEM UEGO wideband signal wire tapped into AEM EMS (for closed-loop O2 control)
- AEM EMS ECU bracket / step guard plate
- Cam sensor gasket and replacement
- Fixed coolant leak and new throttlebody coolant hoses (also performed coolant bypass to keep TB cooler)
- AEM V2 Dyno Tuning
-fix and replace bellhousing gasket and new bolt for the missing bolts
- sparkplug change, and a lower profile brass fitting for the blow off valve (it is hitting the hood).

I probably missed it, sorry. What transmission is in your car now ? SC300 Auto Tranny , Manual W58 or Supra MKIV Auto TT tranny ?

Just wondering ...

* Didn't you have that MAP sensor already since you had already an AEM V2?
* Why will the IACV be taken out if it is there already and properly wired ?
* Didn't you have a boost solenoid already with your AEM v2?
* Why do you need a separate coolant sensor and bung ? If you had AEM , that coolant sensor should be there already... stock sensor works, doesnt have to be AEM.
* If it will be dyno tuned properly , why will it be controlled closed-loop by the wideband ?
* The coolant on the Throttle Body is not a must or necessary. They can be taken out... just another point of failure especially , you have an aftermarket ECU (AEM V2).
* Why the hell will they fix and replace bellhousing gasket ? THERE is NO GASKET (between tranny housing / engine) !!!

Can you post a couple of pictures of your engine bay so we know what exactly you have? And if you don't mind me asking, maybe you can PM me if you don't want people to know, how much are they planning to charge you to do all of the above for which some of them might not even be needed to be re-done?

Hey gerrb, as per the shop all the other shop did was clean the transmission and painted it to make it look rebuilt. So right now it is a 1999 sc300 auto stock tranny.

Just wondering ...

* Didn't you have that MAP sensor already since you had already an AEM V2?
Yes, but it was not working

* Why will the IACV be taken out if it is there already and properly wired ?
That was the problem it wasn't properly wired

* Didn't you have a boost solenoid already with your AEM v2?
Non functional, the other shop placed so close to the turbo that the heat started warp it

* Why do you need a separate coolant sensor and bung ? If you had AEM , that coolant sensor should be there already... stock sensor works, doesnt have to be AEM.
He could not find the original sensor, he believe the other shop cut it off

* If it will be dyno tuned properly , why will it be controlled closed-loop by the wideband ?

Yes, he will be removing the coolant from the throttle body

* Why the hell will they fix and replace bellhousing gasket ? THERE is NO GASKET (between tranny housing / engine) !!!
Sorry, my mistake he is going to place the bolts that are missing in the bellhousing

The vehicle is at the shop now,

Thank you Gerrb for the question this helpful for me, so I could ask the shop the responses above, below your question

The shop I have taken my vehicle now, has indicated he can't even believe the car ever started, the AEM wires not pluged or wired properly, vacuum lines cracked, screws and nuts missing. He believe the other shop did not realize this was a vvti and is much more difficult to work on when it comes to wiring.

If the AEM MAP sensor wasn't working and the Coolant sensor used by the ECU was not even connected , that car would NOT start .

Let them wire the IACV properly ... it is better to have it than removing it IMHO.

Finally got the vehicle Friday night, I drove all afternoon yesterday and the vehicle is running well....only draw back is the tranny. (As Tach Motor Works charged me to get it built plus the torque convertor but was never done)
At this point I need to drive the stock tranny till I can afford to get it done, I just need to figure out next year if I stay auto or convert to manual?

Thank you gerrb, you have been a great help and it is extremely appreciated

Would ATF be the best route?

Cheers

I really can't speak for the other tranny builders I never used. It wouldn't be fair. I have used both Boostlogic and ATF Built A340 transmissions. They are both good builders I believe. IF you ask me which I prefer, it's the ATF. That's why I have a couple of them in my cars.
