Hey i have a 1998 SC400 and i wanted to put a rear window wiper and i have no idea , what needs to be done. I wanted to know if the job was going to be hard or easy. Thanks for looking !

 

A rear window wiper? Very interesting mod you want. I want to say forget about it, but it would look unique and kinda cool.

But it doesn't sound cheap at all. I could see if this was a factory option.

Yep, there are a few threads discussing the Soarer retrofit.

 

Rear window wipers are fairly common on cars in Japan, most sedans have rear wipers as well. But to answer your question, it's more $$$ and effort than it's worth. From removing and replacing the rear glass to wiring up the rear wiper and changing the steering column stalk to control the rear wiper. It's quite involved and not worth the time, easier to just import a rhd Soarer.

 

^^Don't have to wire it to a stalk, could just wire it up to an aftermarket button

hand your spouse a squeegee and at stop lights... after a while it will be an automatic wiper. (I am so going to hell for that!)
