Default OBD2 to OBD1 conversion viable option?

I want to put a mild boost on my 97 sc300 and everyone knows those issues. Since usdm supra tt obd2 ecu is not something we can just go pickup at the junk yard I was looking for other options. Stand alone is one but a little too much money for 8lbs boost. I want to go na-t and don't feel like a full swap is necessary. Since I'm in Florida and no emissions, couldn't I just wire up the obd1 ecu from an older sc and then run a piggyback? Or maybe a supra obd1 tt? I figure I would have to get rid of the hotwire and maybe an o2 sensor but figure it couldn't be too hard. Anyone done this or have a reason why I shouldn't? Really need more hp but my head has been spinning trying to figure out the best economical options
