Default 300 fuel reading issue

So last week after filling up my fuel gauge refused to go down as if i had infinite gas supply. so i went ahead and grabbed one of my extra clusters and popped it in and still nothing. So now for some reason the fuel level will rise but not go down. What should i try to change the actual float inside the tank or just the sensor? has anyone else had this problem?

I bet if you pull the fuel pump assembly you can ohm test the level sensor as you move the float.

sounds like your fuel level sender is broken...
