damage pics
Weird, you know i was sitting at a stoplight in the turning lane 2 days ago and i heard this terrable screaching coming from behind me. I look in my rearview and here comes this locked up geo metro typing pos coming at me from an angle from the next lane over. I was like, ah damn, because i just bought my sc 2 days before. Anyways, this geo comes sliding up right beside me and missed that EXACT SPOT on my car by about foot. It would have had identical damage as yours. Guess i got lucky. Very sorry to see you didn't have the same luck. Just repaint the whole car some bling color or something, thats what was running through my head the whole time, lol.
ok ok ok, now bmsport has me thinkin'....if they're quoting $4200 to fix my door and front bumber...how much more would it cost to have my whole car resprayed do you think???? like...black or gunmetal...yeah.
you know doing a color change on your car will make the resale value go down severly. plus it looks like you still have the factory paint also. just replace the door and bumper and keep that $2,000 more resale value. a color change completely kills the value of the car. go to lift up the hood and have a red firewall, or lift the spare tire well and have a red well inside. leave the paint alone if you ever expect to get your money back out of it. also, a color change requires a coat of sealer , more prep work, THEN paint. not cheap, especially when you have to strip the engine compartment to do it right. the car looks good right now, dont turn it into a hooptie.

voeltz, i think dimsport was talking to me about the soarer emblem
and yes, its on the left side of the car...if you really want to get technical, its correct in a way -> in japan, the soarer emblem is on the right side of the car, which is the driver's side, so i put mine on the left side 1) so it would be on the driver's side and 2) because there are no shops in central virginia willing to shave emblems on a pearl white car for less than $200-400 PER PANEL. its pretty ridiculous, and a single emblem isnt worth spending that much money on.

I won't be respraying the whole car for a few years...once i'm out of college and have enough money saved up for that turbo swap...then we'll see about paint. But you guys are right, the garnett pearl is a beautiful color, especially in the sun.

I would take the insurance money and run. The damage you have there with parts and labor should not cost more than 1500 to fix.

if you were out here in CA we could take care of that for less than 1000 bucks I'm sure!! save some money!!
and dont repaint the car!!- unless you get a QUALITY paint job where they pull the engine pull the windows pull EVERYTHING- its not worth the job, you have a beautiful color stock
keep it that way!
If you want to hear the truth, the resale value is probably already shot due to the accident (assuming the information is disclosed before sale), so a new "high quality" paint may be a better option. Its not that new paint kills your consumer base completely, all it does is closes the door to one base and opens the door to another. Someone might be looking for a blinged out sc300. In this case, the new paint might make up for the history of damage in the eyes of the next owner. All that said and done, i really don't believe that a owner's personal views on modification choices should be dictated by the future resale value. I bought my sc300 (which was repainted the same color as before) with the intentions of ripping it apart and making into a customized beast. I really dont give half a poo about who or what the next owner wants, if you want a collectors item, get a 97 supra TT LE and let it rot in the garage under a cover as a wasted pile of trd potential.
