Default Airbag light stays on?

I already did a search for airbag light reset but I'm still clueless.

I took off my Lexus airbag, drove around for 3 days without it. Then my Soarer one came... Installed it and the airbag light is staying on.

On one of the threads that came up on the search, it said it was crucial not to turn the ignition when the airbag is off... So what happens if I did? Did I totally mess something up or do I just need to reset it?

I already tried to unplug the battery and wait 15 minutes... Same thing. If I unpluged the EC1 fuse for a few seconds, should this reset the Airbag light? I also read about two ways you can reset the code, under the hood or under your left knee cap.. Which one would be easier?

First, you need to know the trouble code.
use a paper clip and stick in the Tc & E1 of the DLC2 after you turn the ignition on for ~20sec. (do not start the engine). If the light blink continuosly or code 22, you may cancel the light. If it is any other code, you need to trouble shoot it and fix the problem.

"From VQT

To clear the code connect two wires to Tc and AB of the DLC2. Turn the ignition to ACC or ON and wait ~6 sec. Start with Tc terminal, apply to body ground alternately to Tc and AB twice each in cycles of 1.0 +- 0.5 sec. Finally keep Tc to ground, if the clearing is done properly the AirBag light will blink in a 50msec (continously). If if did not, repeat the procedure (you didn't ground the Tc and AB properly."

This is how you would do it for under the dash... Anyone know how to do it under the hood?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

SC400...

This is what happened to me until recently as well... I believe that those are the terminals to short either under the bonnet or under the dash, as the Soarer specialist here in Sydney did exactly the same thing but under the boonet (hood if you like).

Remember... NEVER drive the car without the factory wheel/instruments in place otherwise you get the airbag light!

Soarer,

So as long as I do what VQT stated correctly, it should fix the problem? Did your problem start after driving around without the airbags?

There was an airbag removal page that I found over the net somewhere (I can't remember the link though sorry!) which shows you exactly what to do (from the repair manual), but basically...

- Locate the diag. port, if there are 2 of you then maybe the daig. port under the hood may be easier to do.
- Locate terminals E1 to ground the wire to (or find a convenient body ground)
- Connect 2 wires to terminal Tc and AB and wait about 6~10sec.
- Turn ign. switch to ON (don't start car!!!!!)
- Start with term. Tc and then AB (alternate connections), try to making the switch as instant as possible (within 0.5 sec) and do this cycle twice, i.e. Tc/AB/Tc/AB/Tc/GROUND (hold Tc and apply the ground connection... the ground connection should be done in 0.2sec or so)... the airbag light should blink several times = fualt cleared.
- Disconnect the wires and your set.

Hope this helps!

PS if this procedure is somewhat lacking please correct! but I'm pretty sure this is what to do from memory...

well I did exactly what it said. When I was done, I left the tc to the ground and checked... The airbag light was blinking along with the cruise control and abs light. I removed all the wires and look again... The airbag light is still on... any ideas???
