Jimmit,

I saw a similar mild abrasive/compund used on tv, to clean the windshield. The product was applied, and then rubbed in with some fine steel wool. I think I saw this on a detailing episode of shade tree mechanic.

Gents,

I would think twice about letting your insurance company replace your windshield. It may be true by law they must replace your windshield but it is viewed by your insurance company as another claim. Too many claims and your will get put in a "high risk" pool, or drooped all together.

I am insured with State Farm. I have had 1 or 2 windshields replaced every year for the past 10 years, and have never been put in a "high risk pool"...

Good for you Bentley1!! I am a bit curious of how you are going through two windshields a year.

They replaced the entire freeway system here in preparation for the Olympics. There were a ton of gravel/construction trucks traveling the freeway.

I also live close to a gravel pit, and pass one on my way to work every day. The trucks drop rocks all the time.

Other than that, I don't know... maybe It's just bad luck.

Hey Keith thanks for the info. So all I have to do is call up the insurance company and tell them my windshield has streaks on it and they will replace it with an OEM one?

The streaks arent that deep and are pretty much only noticable at night but I dont think I have the time to go out and get the stuff and a buffer right now. Maybe in a couple months. Anyways thanks for the info. Greatly appreciated
I'd pay to have a shop buff the winshield then, if you don't have the time. Streaks alone wouldn't be covered; it has to be chipped or cracked to file a claim.
