I know it sounds crazy. As I have been looking for a sc300 5 speed for quite awhile I have never come upon any sc400's with factory manual transmissions. Tonight I got news that Lexus actually produced the sc400 with a 5 speed manual. A friend of mine works at a lexus dealership and apparently a co-worker told him that an obviosly limited number were made. If anyone has any information about these cars, or if anyone owns one, please post. I can only dream to come upon such a car. And I do think my source is very reliable.

 

You are both right and wrong. Assuming you are excited about a 5 speed manual, I have never heard of such a thing. I have never heard of anyhting of the sort, and I think many will say the same. However, in 1998, Lexus began putting a new 5 speed automatic into the SC400's that had ECT-i, which was a more intelligent transmission control. Go here to learn more about the history of the SC400.

 

Supposidly there were a few 5 spds made, but they were never mass produced. A few as in probably no more than 3. I think there was a problem with them burning tires really fast, just not something for the V8 I guess. So in an answer, lets just pretend like there were never any produced because if or if they are still around, we won't see one. I think someone on this board has driven a 5spd SC400... but that was ages ago.
