Default which dash kit to get?

im thinking of ordering a dash kit from alkaplus. i already have one, but the wood grain is way too light, not even a close match to my factory wood trim except at night, under street lights. i dont mind it being real glossy. im wondering what you guys think of a brushed aluminum or black carbon fiber dash kit. i dont know if anybody actually makes a true factory match for our cars (in terms of color shade, again i dont mind glass)? any thoughts would be greatly appreciated oh, and my interior is an otherwise stock tan interior, 96 sc4.

kylesc400,

I ordered a dash kit from some company on EBay. The wood matched perfectly minus the glossyness. I did not like the cut accuracy on the stereo/a-c pieces. Otherwise it has not faded, worn, or lost its finish. Overall a nice kit. I also saw one yesterday on EBay that covered ALL the dash consoles. Kinda odd looking overall.

In terms of alum or carbon fiber look. I do not think it will look great with a tan/beige interior.

a friend of mine just got a brushed aluminum kit for his legend from alkaplus. he has a black interior and i must say it looks very nice, i was surprised at the quality level. however, im not diving into that because, outside of the center console (which his kit covered up), he has no other wood trim. our sc's stil have the wood trim all along the dash and the doors. im not sure of how brushed aluminum or anything other than a perfect matching wood grain trim would look

kylesc400,

The links you pm'd me are not going to match correctly. You need to find a kit that uses the same color pattern as stock. Call around and ask for someone to guarantee it will match. Mine matches perfectly under every light.

I maybe getting rid of the entire kit thou. I was considering changing the dash to black or having the pieces modified to look better. There is a thread on here from a while ago about a company that can paint/laminate the pieces so the mod comes out clean and not stick on.

I've painted dash parts before... and you have to do a good job to make it look nice

I mean full primer multiple layers of quality paint and clearcoat...

I painted some of the dash trim pieces body color in my Maxima it looks sweet... but I swapped em out for a real brushed aluminium kit that looks really nice
