I have a 1jz sc400 swap and my tach lights up but wont move anyone have any idea what this is and ways to diagnose? I know might be motor but could there also be a sensor not hooked up ect
Could be the needle set to far down on the motor, or the sensor from tranny not hooked up, or you dont have the resistor on the back of the motherboard not spliced together. The number you need to have jumped is R73 or R109. Pull the cluster out and remove the back white plastic piece and see if there is a wire that is indeed ran across either of the resistor I stated. The number is based on which cluster you have. Keep in kind the 400 cluster will be off like 1000-1500 rpm faster than what is should be. Worst case post a picture of the cluster.

my clusters main needle just stopped working and my o/d off light started blinking, i pressed the o/d but nothing happened, lexus told me my speed sensor stopped working (code 42). but now heres the real problem: theres 4 sensors in the sc4 (which btw mine is a 92 1uz). 2 speed solenoids and 2 sensors. their all attached to the tranny on the sides. but im not sure if thats the case in your situation, im hoping it helps
