I just had some new tires installed, and asked the mechanic to check the brakes too. He said my rear calipers are seized, and that I'd need new rotors too. I've always thought the brakes were kind of lame, so I thought this might be a good time to upgrade the calipers. I know a lot of the stopping power happens in front, but since I need new calipers in the rear, I may as well get good ones. At the same time, I don't want to break the bank, and I have stock rims, so my options are probably a little limited.

I got an online quote for OEM calipers, $276 each, plus $91 per rotor, and $50 for the pads.

I've read as many threads about this topic I can find, and it seems like the Centric calipers are well received. Is that still the case? I've found them on eBay for $110, which I like a lot better than $276! Would I be making a mistake using those?

Then for the rotors and pads. Are those ceramic pads/and rotor kits a bad idea? Well these guys seem pretty legit, shoot i might have to get this kit to since all my stuff is rusted.

 

some of the feedback on them is pretty bad, rottors coming apart wrong sizes...

I am also looking for good brakes my and probably rotors and calipers. my car pulls to the right a little under hard braking. something wrong with my left front wheel it doesnt spin freelly maybe that siezed brake or something.

 

try the callahan setup, i got wearevers from advanced and they suck. biggest mistake i made but its still better then the oem brakes from 91.

 

I had ths SC parked for a bit, but finally got around to getting stuff done. I ended up using the Centric stuff all the way around. Calipers/pads but no slotted/drilled rotors, just the regulars. Bought all the crap on Amazon, with Prime, I got a lot of free shipping. Pretty happy with the part quality , and now I have rear brakes that actually work!

Flushed out the whole system too. Got all that coffee colored brake fluid OUT, and the brakes feel the best they ever have.
